Garden Apprenticeship

This apprenticeship program is a new offering, running from spring into fall.
We believe the best way to learn about matters relating to plants and nature is to learn from the land and nature itself. Our experiential program will help guide participants through various aspects and tasks involved in developing and caring for a small-scale herb garden and it’s surrounding environment.
Individuals will have the opportunity to get hands-on experience learning about organic gardening, field botany, stewardship, tracking biodiversity, and their own connection to the land. As per our philosophy and way of working, our program will be custom tailored around the goals and intentions of the participants.

The gardens are a peaceful, small acreage field garden surrounded by forest on 3 sides. The south side of the field garden is open field (with a small treed area), adjoining the organic farm next door.
Participants will learn through doing and each day will have a different focus that will teach individuals about various aspects of growing a garden and stewardship of the surrounding land. Participants will have the opportunity and joy of getting their hands dirty in the garden and reaping the benefits of the work and experience.

We will meet each month throughout the growing season to learn about and put to practice methods of cultivation.

There will also be an additional (optional) camp-out weekend during the warmer weather for participants that will offer an opportunity for further connection and bonding of the group.

Garden Apprentices will also have the option to claim a plot/garden bed of their own to tend throughout the season. All apprentices are welcome and encouraged to return and visit the gardens on their own time, outside of the programmed days.
