Garden Mentorship

We are looking for 2-3 committed individuals looking to learn through experience in the rural garden. We will work closely with garden interns, sharing our knowledge and experience about gardening, herbal medicine and the natural world.

Interns will get to know our local species of wild medicinal herbs, and those we cultivate for medicine in a hands-on and experiential way. We have over 50+ medicinal herbs at the gardens and interns will both help tend and harvest many of these herbs throughout the growing season.

This is an excellent opportunity for those looking to get more into gardening/herbal medicine production but who need a bit of guidance and experience.

Candidates need to be able to commit an average of at least 6 to 8 hours per week to working at the garden throughout the seasons.
Each intern will be responsible for designing, cultivating and maintaining their own individual plot that they will care for over the seasons.
In addition to developing and maintaining their own plot, participants will dedicate time at the garden to helping maintain and develop the garden grounds at large.

Interns will need to help with various tasks involving physical labour, such as: digging, cutting, clearing trails, weeding, mulching, tilling, planting, pruning, harvesting, invasive species management, water systems management, and collecting data. We understand that not everyone may have the same physical capabities and we honour that – we will not ask interns to do anything that would be detrimental to their health or well-being but will work with each person individually to find where their efforts would shine.

During the course of seasons, garden interns have the opportunity to participate in any of our other programs at the garden at a 50% discounted rate, and can join any of our open community days.
